Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Sales / Business Development professional with proven experience in general contracting sales to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new project opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the design-build delivery model and a track record of selling construction services to commercial and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Sales
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets (commercial, industrial, institutional, etc.).
    • Lead the sales process from prospecting and qualification through proposal, presentation, and contract award.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, brokers, architects, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to deliver compelling proposals.
  • Strategic Growth
    • Support the firm’s strategic plan by opening new accounts and expanding existing client relationships.
    • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
    • Track market trends, competitor activities, and client needs to shape business development strategy.
  • Client Engagement
    • Serve as the primary point of contact during early project discussions.
    • Effectively communicate the benefits of design-build versus traditional delivery methods.
    • Ensure a positive client experience from first contact through project turnover.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous general contracting sales experience is required (minimum 3–5 years).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction markets, project delivery methods, and client decision-making processes.
  • Proven ability to generate leads, close deals, and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build trust-based relationships with C-suite executives, real estate professionals, and industry partners.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically in design-build sales or design-bid-build transition selling.
  • Established network within Wisconsin real estate, development, and construction markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or related field (preferred, not required).
